SBA Underwriter

Position Summary:
Responsible for performing various duties to support the SBA Department; underwriting new money and modifications to existing commercial customer; coordinating with other departments within the bank; complying with operating policies and procedures established for this position. Reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor; responding to inquiries or requests for information.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, etc.)
- High degree of attention to detail and ability to multitask
- 3-5 years current, demonstrated experience as a SBA underwriter
- Ability to research, read and correctly apply agency and company guidelines
- Understand how Conventional, and SBA guidelines relate to internal and SBA SOP’s guidelines required
- Strong understanding of commercial underwriting guidelines
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Reviews and evaluates information on SBA loan documentation to determine if borrower and/or property meet loan standards
- Completes a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, SBA and Bank, and government guidelines and standards
- Evaluates the entire credit package and collateral for SBA loans and ultimately ensure an SBA eligibility loan product
- Meets or exceed established production goals and quality standards
- Provides superior customer service to internal and external customers
- Be available to processors and loan officers for general guideline interpretations and questions on specific loan files
- Communicates decision (approval, suspense, denial) on loans to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing

- Coordinates specific work tasks with other employees within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information
